State FFA Officer Details

Objective: To provide an opportunity for Nebraska FFA members who have achieved the State FFA Degree, to further develop their leadership ability while transacting the business of the State FFA Association and providing leadership/personal growth opportunities for the membership.

 

A.    Rules and Regulations

1.     A candidate for State FFA Office must hold the State FFA Degree or be a candidate for the degree at the convention at which the candidate seeks election.

2.     Application for State FFA Office must be completed on the official form as provided by the State FFA Office.

3.     The application must be received by the State FFA Office postmarked, or otherwise delivered on or before March 1.

 

B.    Procedures

1.     The State FFA Officer Nominating Committee is a standing committee as outlined in policy by the Nebraska FFA Board of Directors.  The State FFA Officers shall appoint the members of the nominating committee with approval from the State FFA Advisory Staff.

2.     The State FFA Officer Nominating Committee shall consist of the following representatives: 

·         Preliminary Committee

·         Past State FFA officers

·         Past FFA members

·         Adult Advisors

        ¾Business and industry representatives

        ¾FFA alumni members

·   State FFA Executive Director or appointee shall serve as non-voting ex-officio to the nominating committee

·         Final Committee

·         Four FFA members selected at large from Nebraska FFA membership

·         Four past state FFA officer representatives, one serving as chair of the committee

·         Adult Advisors (maximum of three)

¾Business and industry representatives

        ¾FFA alumni members

·   The State FFA Executive Director or appointee shall serve as a non-voting ex-officio to the committee

3.    The members of the Preliminary Committee will not necessarily serve on the Final Committee.

4.    All candidates will appear before the State FFA Officer Nominating Committee during the preliminary interviews conducted in March.  Following the preliminary interview, candidates will be notified of those selected to advance to the final interviews conducted during the State FFA Convention.

5.   At the closing session of the annual State FFA Convention, the nominating committee will present a slate of candidates to fill the state offices.  Delegates will vote on acceptance of the slate to confirm their election to State FFA Office.

 

C.   Guide to Preparing State Officer Candidates

A  A guide has been prepared to help candidates understand the expectations of State FFA Officers.  It also contains suggestions to help candidates prepare for the interview.  This guide will be forwarded to candidates upon receipt of their application for State FFA Office.
